We decided on a lazy day after all the driving the day before. We travelled about 30 miles to Brechin to tour this castle at 2pm.

Brechin Castle is the seat of the Earls of Dalhousie.
A castle built by the Maules existed here in the 13th Century,
but for nearly 300 years Brechin was a royal stronghold.
In the 16th century it passed to the Erskine Earls of Mar, but in 1634
it was purchased by the Maules who were later created Earls of Panmure.
Much of the present building was erected in the 18th century.

After the tour, we went back to the cottage. No rain all day.
